SAK-Mod: Titanium VG10-San-Mai Monarch

Damit das namensgebende Monarch seinem Ruf auch gerecht wird, haben wir es einer royalen Schönheitskur unterzogen (English description below):

Rote Alu-Liner, blaue Titanschalen mit Grooves und als besonderes Highlight eine Klinge aus VG10 im San-Mai Aufbau.

Der Stahl wird von der Firma Takefu Special Steel Co. LTD. in Japan hergestellt. Die mittige Schneidlage besteht aus VG10-Stahl. Beidseits der Mittellage sind jeweils 33 parallele Lagen Edelstahl mit einer zusätzlichen Verbindungslage zum VG10 aufgeschweißt. So entsteht ein eine Klinge im San-Mai-Aufbau mit insgesamt 69 Lagen, die beim Ätzen der fertigen Klinge das typische Lagenmuster zeigt.

To make the Monarch worth its name, we made a royal tuning to this SAK:

red alu-liners, grooved blue titanium scales and a VG10 San-Mai blade for highlight.

The steel is made by Takefu Secial Steel Co. LTD in Japan. The blade core consists of VG10 steel which is embedded by 34 layers of stainless steel on each side. So the blade in San-Mai-structure with 69 layers is made, which shows the typical pattern after etching.

SAK-Mod: Amboina Proficient ZDP-189

Die neueste Kreation aus dem Hause Chris Custom Works ist das Modell Proficient (Adjektiv: sachkundig, geübt, kompetent; Substantiv: Fachmann) welches zwar kompakt daherkommt, in seinen drei Lagen aber die essentiellen Werkzeuge für den urbanen wie ruralen Einsatz beinhaltet.

Als Besonderheit wurden dem Messer nicht nur rot eloxierte Liner sowie Schalen aus Premium two-tone Amboina verpasst, sondern auch eine Klinge aus dem pulvermetallurgischem Premium-Klingenstahl ZDP-189 von Hitachi Metals spendiert, der mit beeindruckenden 3% Kohlenstoff und 20% Chrom daherkommt. Der Stahl verfügt zudem über eine besonders feine und gleichmäßige Microstruktur und zeichnet sich vor allem durch seine außerordentliche Verschleißfestigkeit und seine ausgezeichneten Korrosionseigenschaften aus.

The latest creation from Chris Custom Works is the Proficient-model, which comes along in a compact way, but has all essentials tools for either urban as well rural use.

The special features are not only red anodized liners and premium two-tone amboina scales, but also a blade made of premium ZDP-189 PM-steel by Hitachi Metals which contains 3% Carbon and 20% Chromium. It is known for its consistent microstrucrure and amazing wear resistance.

SAK-Mod: Black Micarta Spartan

Gesucht waren robuste Schalen für ein Arbeitstier. Also haben wir uns bei diesem Spartan für gebürstetes schwarzes Canvas Micarta entschieden. Die rote Fiberunterlage bildet dabei noch einen schönen optischen Kontrast. (English description below.)

We were asked for sturdy scales for a workhorse. So we made brushed black canvas micarta scales for this Spartan. The red fiber base makes a nice little contrast.
